Oktoberfest
Every year Oktoberfest attracts beer drinkers from all over the world
to eat, drink, sing and make merry. Liter steins of beer are hoisted high,
saluting the strains of Bavarian Oom-pah Band music. Flocks of roasted
chicken, herds of oxen steaks, and tons of sausages of all manner are
consumed in a carnivorous orgy.
Historically, It first started as a wedding celebration for Bavaria's
Crown Prince, Ludwig I in 1810. It is called "Oktoberfest" because
it originally took place on the first sunday in October. Today, the first
sunday in October is the last day of the Fest which now already begins
16 days before that.
Oktoberfest 2006 takes place from the 17th of September until the 3rd
of October (this is because Oct. 3rd is a public holiday in Germany)
at Theresienwiese, only 200m away from EASY PALACE City Hostel
